Systems Engineer (Various Grades)

Hybrid (3 days in the office per week)

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver Systems Engineering Projects

    • Lead and contribute to the technical delivery of multidisciplinary systems engineering projects, with a particular focus on maritime platforms, systems and domains, while maintaining awareness of defence, aerospace, nuclear and other regulated sectors.
  • Develop Internal Capability

    • Shape and refine engineering processes, tools, and best practices to enhance RC Fornax’s systems engineering capability.
  • Collaborate Across Functions

    • Work closely with project managers, software engineers, and business development teams to ensure integrated delivery.
  • Support Business Growth

    • Engage in proposal development, client interaction, and knowledge sharing to support strategic growth and professional development.

What You’ll Bring

  • Systems Engineering Expertise

    • Solid foundation in systems engineering principles including requirements analysis, trade-off studies and system architecture, ideally applied within maritime or closely related regulated environments.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative

    • Proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to Detail

    • Commitment to producing high-quality, traceable, and auditable engineering outputs.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in maritime engineering, naval platforms, ship systems, underwater systems, or related defence environments, with awareness of aerospace, nuclear or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (e.g. SysML, Enterprise Architect)
  • Exposure to consultancy or small business environments
  • Understanding of software engineering or integration with hardware systems
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, emerging technologies such as autonomy, digital engineering, artificial intelligence, advanced simulation, sensing technologies or novel maritime systems
  • Working towards professional registration (e.g. CSEP, CEng)
