The Role
This role is part of our Sensor Systems Business Unit. Saab is expanding in the UK and we are now seeking a talented and highly motivated Systems Engineer to support the growth of our radar and sensors at our Fareham, Hampshire campus.

As a Systems Engineer in Sensor Systems, you will predominantly work with the Giraffe 1X radar, the newest radar in Saab’s portfolio; there is a regular capability update cycle and an established production line, and you will be investigating new areas for product growth and enhancement. You will also support wider innovation across Saab UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Support to bid activities and development of customer demonstrations.
- Requirements derivation and management.
- Radar performance analysis and algorithm development.
- System and sub-system design.
- System Engineering lifecycle management.
- Ability to undertake technical leadership and maintain close working relationships with engineering functions.
Required Skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Experience of working in a recognised industry standard requirements management tool.
- Familiar with principles of ISO 15288:2023, and with product road mapping and lifecycle techniques.
- Understanding the interaction between system requirements, and hardware and software implementation.
- You are a great technical communicator that easily creates and maintains professional relationships and instil trust.
- Ability to conduct technical analysis and assessments with attention to detail.
- You must hold UK or Swedish citizenship.
- A willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.

Desired skills
- Three or more years’ of demonstratable experience of working with radar, communications or EW systems.
- Experience with MATLAB, ideally with recorded radar data, ideally with an ability to perform system level modelling, simulation and analysis to evaluate system designs against requirements.
As a National Security Vetting clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or have the ability to gain it.
