Systems Engineer
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join the team. European Electronique is a leading UK systems Integrator, specialising in the delivery of secure technology platforms including Hybrid IT, Cyber Security and Networking Infrastructure. Our innovative solutions are created in partnership with first class technology vendors, and the vision of our customers provides the foundation on which we build. European Electronique specialises in designing and implementing solutions for public sector institutions including, Education, Healthcare and Local Government delivering key public services.
You will be responsible for the design and delivery of solutions to meet customer requirements. Working with the sales team providing technical assistance to pre-sales requests and tender responses, through to undertaking on-site installations into existing or green field sites. You will have a proven track record in an implementation role and have experience in producing design and implementation documentation.
Required Skills
- Windows 11: design, deployment, configuration, and migration of customer devices, including transition from legacy Windows 10 environments.
- Windows Server: installation and configuration of server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
- Server Hardware: specification, installation, and configuration of HPE or Dell servers, including rack installation, cabling, remote management, RAID, and firmware.
- Storage: design, installation, and configuration of entry to mid-level SAN and directly attached storage, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, or SAS connectivity as applicable.
- Virtualisation: implementation and configuration of VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V, including virtual networking, storage integration, and P2V/V2V migrations.
- Microsoft 365: deployment, configuration, and migration of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
- Endpoint Management: device enrolment, application deployment, and configuration using Microsoft Intune.
- Microsoft Azure: deployment and configuration of Azure infrastructure where included in the company’s project portfolio.
- Backup and Recovery: design, implementation, and configuration of Veeam or equivalent solutions, including successful backup and restore testing before handover.
- Networking: good understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, switching, routing, and firewalls, with the ability to complete network configuration required for installations.
- Security: apply secure configuration standards, access controls, and patching during implementation.
- Project Delivery: complete assigned activities to agreed scope, timescales, and quality standards, identifying and escalating risks, dependencies, and changes.
- Installation Planning: undertake site readiness checks and prepare implementation, migration, and rollback plans to minimise customer disruption.
- Testing and Handover: complete functional and acceptance testing, produce accurate configuration documentation, and hand solutions over to the customer and support team.
- Customer Engagement: build strong stakeholder relationships, communicate clearly, and provide timely updates throughout onsite delivery.
- Compliance: follow company policies, applicable ISO procedures, and site health and safety requirements.
- Solution Advocacy: identify relevant customer opportunities and explain the benefits of appropriate company solutions.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence and be willing to travel.

Desirable Skills
- Microsoft SQL Server: installation, instance configuration, database creation, permissions, backup, and restore testing.
- Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM): for device and application deployment.
- Exchange Migration Experience: migration from legacy Exchange environments to Exchange Online, including hybrid configuration.
- Google Workspace for Education: configuration, user provisioning, migrations, and integration with customer identity systems.
- Endpoint Security Deployment: installation, policy configuration, and validation of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos, or equivalent antivirus/EDR solutions.
- Web Filtering: installation, configuration, directory integration, and testing of Smoothwall, Sophos, Lightspeed, or equivalent filtering solutions.
- Remote Desktop and Virtual Desktop Solutions: implementation, configuration, and migration of Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Azure Virtual Desktop, including profiles, application delivery, and acceptance testing.
- Experience deploying, migrating, or integrating EdTech and education MIS platforms, working with software vendors and school stakeholders.
- Awareness of safeguarding, data protection, and secure data handling when working onsite and implementing systems in education environments.
