Astute’s Nuclear Team is proud to be partnering with a specialist Engineering Consultancy to recruit a Systems Engineer to support major civil nuclear and defence programmes across the UK.

This role offers a salary of up to £70,000 dependant on experience, hybrid working, excellent progression opportunities, and the chance to work on some of the most complex engineering challenges in the sector.

Responsibilities And Duties Of The Systems Engineer Role

Within the role you will:

  • Research and develop concepts for complex systems solutions.
  • Develop, manage and deliver on system solutions according to stakeholder requirements.
  • Support design process engineering for mechanical and mixed-technology systems.
  • Conduct systems safety analysis and contribute to safety cases.
  • Lead systems integration and partitioning activities.
  • Evaluate system performance and support verification and validation.
  • Perform system integrity and resilience assessments.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A STEM degree (Systems Engineering preferred).
  • 4-12 years’ experience in civil nuclear, defence, maritime or aviation systems engineering.
  • Strong experience in requirements engineering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo or Polarion.
  • A background in hardware-focused systems (mechanical, electro-mechanical, sensors, radar, data fusion).

The Systems Engineer role would suit someone who is:

  • Mechanically focused with strong practical systems engineering ability.
  • Comfortable working independently and within small teams.
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A strong problem-solver with excellent attention to detail.
  • Keen to learn and develop within a specialist engineering consultancy.
