The Role We are offering a range of exciting technical opportunities within UK national security and defence, focused on developing and delivering operational capabilities across Cyber, Cryptography and Operational Technology.
In these roles, you will have the opportunity to work closely with customers, applying strong skills in customer-friend support, systems thinking, requirements engineering and product development. You will be able to operate across a project’s lifecycle, engaging with complex stakeholder groups, understanding their needs and helping to shape, define and deliver impactful technical solutions.
We have opportunities available at a variety of levels and are keen to speak with candidates from diverse technical backgrounds.
Who We’re Looking For We recognise that strong technical professionals come from a range of career paths. We actively welcome interest from individuals with relevant security clearance who may currently be working as:
Systems Engineers Delivery Managers Product Owners / Product Managers Technical Leads Product and Software Engineers Or similar roles with transferable experience
If you bring experience in leading teams, shaping requirements, delivering complex technology solutions, or working closely with stakeholders in secure or mission-critical environments, we would be keen to explore how your background could support our work.
Key Responsibilities Depending on your background and level, your responsibilities may include:
Delivering customer-focused advice and business analysis to support internal and external stakeholders Understanding and analysing stakeholder needs, and eliciting, capturing and managing requirements Supporting or leading the planning and delivery of acquisition, research or product development activities Working as part of, or leading, multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions meet requirements Translating business and operational needs into structured system requirements and constraints Contributing to the identification and development of new customer opportunities

Skills and Experience We are particularly interested in candidates with:
Ability to understand and analyse operational, user or mission needs Experience leading or working with technical experts and delivery teams to develop solutions Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and requirements definition Systems Engineering knowledge
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
Cyber Defence Cryptography (e.g. Crypt-Key) Vulnerability Research Cyber Exercising
Experience gained in, or transferable from, adjacent roles with demonstrable ability to:
Develop products Manage stakeholders Shape requirements Contribute to complex technical solutions in secure or high-assurance environments
Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical or engineering discipline Working towards or membership of a relevant professional body
We value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you. This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
Malvern The Malvern facility is noted for its work in national security, electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. Developing technologies for security, military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
