Help build the systems. Help shape the team.
Greenjets develops propulsion and autonomous systems for next-generation aerospace and defence applications. We’re looking for a Systems Engineer to help turn complex customer and mission needs into clear requirements, integrated designs and proven capability.
Systems engineering is a new team within Greenjets. You’ll help establish how we work, as well as deliver across our programmes. This is an opportunity to apply strong engineering fundamentals in an environment where processes are still developing and your judgement will matter.
The role
You’ll work across the engineering V-cycle, connecting what a system needs to achieve with how it is designed, integrated and tested. Working closely with mechanical, propulsion, electronics, software and flight teams, you’ll help keep everyone aligned on requirements, interfaces and evidence of performance.
You will:
- Capture and clarify customer, stakeholder and mission requirements, challenging assumptions and resolving ambiguity.
- Develop clear, testable system requirements and flow them down to subsystems and components.
- Support system architecture, functional decomposition and trade studies to guide practical design decisions.
- Define and manage interfaces between disciplines, subsystems and external equipment.
- Maintain requirements traceability and assess the impact of changes as designs evolve.
- Define verification and validation approaches, acceptance criteria and the evidence needed to demonstrate compliance.
- Support integration, ground testing and flight testing, feeding findings back into requirements and design.
- Help build proportionate systems engineering tools, processes and working practices for the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
A practical approach matters
You should understand what good systems engineering looks like and know how to apply it in a growing business.
Some requirements will be incomplete. Designs will change. You’ll need to work directly with engineers, make uncertainty visible and help the team reach workable decisions.
We need someone who can distinguish between the rigour a decision demands and unnecessary administration. You’ll know when a requirement needs further analysis, when an interface needs tighter control and when a straightforward conversation can unblock progress. You’ll take ownership of improving how we work while keeping delivery moving.

What you’ll bring
- Experience applying systems engineering principles across requirements, architecture, integration and verification and validation.
- A sound understanding of the V-cycle and the relationship between requirements, design decisions and test evidence.
- The ability to write clear, measurable requirements and manage traceability.
- Confidence working across engineering disciplines and communicating technical issues clearly.
- A pragmatic, collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and work through ambiguity.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, autonomous systems or other complex hardware environments would be valuable. Familiarity with requirements management tools is welcome, alongside evidence that you can turn engineering methods into useful outcomes.
Why Greenjets?
You’ll work close to the hardware, the engineers building it and the teams testing it. You’ll have a direct influence on both our products and the systems engineering capability we’re establishing.
If you want to combine engineering discipline with hands-on delivery and help shape a new team as you do it, we’d like to hear from you.
