Systems Integrator Engineer – Front End System
On-site – West Sussex
Long-term temporary assignment (via Hays)
Role Overview
System Integrator for the Front-End System for RR40/41 within the Total Vehicle, Validation and Integration Team.
- Contribute to the team's KPIs, team deliverables, task steering and prioritisation, capacity planning and reporting.
- Ensure the process-safe assembly of all product variants in the production system, as well as product influence from a production point of view in the ItO for all plants or the plant network.
- Responsible for the total vehicle validation and integration to ensure launch and/or series readiness in product maturity as well as conformity of customer relevant characteristics for the system area.
- Deliver or maintain the system integration in the Plant Production Process, assuring production capability of all product variants in the production system and meeting.
The most important area of expertise for this role is proven exterior body development experience within the automotive industry. Experience within front-end vehicle systems is considered highly desirable, as many of the remaining requirements are typically gained through performing this type of role.
The person in this position is responsible for ensuring the front end of a Rolls-Royce vehicle can be built correctly, fits together properly, meets quality standards and is production-ready before vehicles are released to customers.

- Bonnet / hood interfaces
- Cooling components
- Front structural assemblies and mounting points
Leadership Responsibilities
- Support the development of cross-plant validation strategy.
- Responsible to ensure the achievement of a production capable product & process for their system area within the areas of manufacturing, assembly & total vehicle quality in a ItO or a Series Production environment.
- Create the necessary transparency to all major influencing factors of the responsible focus area.
- Analysis of the causes of complex problems in PMP including planning, execution, documentation and handshaking of the analysis results.
- Lead partial builds events, taking into account strength/weakness analysis from previous models.
- Core member in the cross-plant Fachteams with a cross-product line focus.
- Act as a key interface between Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality and Production teams to ensure front-end systems are integrated, validated and industrialised successfully.
- Provide technical leadership and direction during vehicle build events, launch activities and production readiness reviews.

Tasks
- Development of validation and variant planning.
- Carry out and document the Launch viability (ATG).
- Plan and deliver the validation results.
- Support front-end system development through all programme phases, ensuring buildability, manufacturability and quality targets are achieved.
- Coordinate validation activities for exterior body and front-end components affecting vehicle integration and production readiness.
Project Management
- Reporting incl. pre-analysis and confirmation of solutions within the framework of sensor responsibility in the problem management process (PMP process).
- Create transparency to complex problems/target conflicts in coordination with specialist departments & circles and escalates in case of potential failure to achieve targets.
- Work within cross-functional project teams in a fast-paced and complex VUCA environment, coordinating activities and ensuring delivery to programme timing and quality objectives.
Validation of Systems
- Assess the manufacturability of the Front End and the scope of properties (acoustics, noise levels, water resistance, ease of use), considering all optional equipment and country variants within the constraints of the project plan (construction phases, component maturity, change closures).
- Ensure the implementation of agreed requirements from a production perspective (buildability, function and quality).
- Test and evaluation of the compatibility of product changes to a derivative.
- Ensure vehicle buildability in all build phases in the product development process to ensure a smooth assembly process.
- Identify deviations in the scope of product and process. Review the measures implemented and assess the effectiveness of the measures, proposing improvements where necessary.
- Validate the fit, finish, dimensional compatibility and functional integration of front-end components including bumper systems, grilles, headlights, cooling modules and structural mounting interfaces.
- Ensure exterior body and front-end component changes maintain vehicle quality, manufacturability and launch readiness requirements.

Analysis
- Analyse the complete system with regards to achieving geometric targets, and optimum production feasibility.
- Perform and evaluate tolerance analyses with a maximum of 3 contributors/influencing variables (components, processes) and deriving product and process changes.
- Analyse the causes of simple total vehicle faults (non-functional with max. 3 contributors) in PMP including planning, execution, documentation and handshaking of the analysis results.
- Apply engineering problem-solving methodologies to investigate dimensional, quality, assembly and integration concerns relating to front-end vehicle systems.
- Utilise CAD tools and vehicle analysis techniques to assess design feasibility, packaging, interfaces and vehicle integration performance.
Educational Background / Professional Experience Requirements
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree/HNC in an Engineering field, and/or Level 6 Engineering apprenticeship.
- Proven automotive exterior body development experience, ideally involving front-end vehicle systems and component integration.
- Experienced using problem solving quality tools.
- Experienced using CAD for Vehicle Analysis.
- Have a sound knowledge of vehicle engineering concepts designs.
- Experienced for working within a cross-functional project team in a VUCA environment.
- Strong understanding of vehicle integration principles, buildability and production feasibility.
- Experience working with manufacturing, engineering and quality stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
DESIRABLE / OPTIONAL
- Product knowledge of Rolls-Royce / MINI / BMW Product Integration (PI) / Launch Viability (ATG) / Analysis.
- Process knowledge of Rolls-Royce / MINI / BMW Production environments.
- Knowledge of Launch and Change co-ordination.
- Experienced in vehicle build activities within a Technology.
- Aware of the general vehicle assembly process.
- Experience supporting vehicle launch, production readiness and validation activities within an automotive manufacturing environment.
