Water Operations Analyst

We’re looking for a Water Operations Analyst to join our team, supporting the safe and effective operation of our clean water network across South London.

You’ll work closely with Systems Optimisation Engineers, Leakage teams and other colleagues across the business, helping us maintain reliable water supplies, manage pressure and respond effectively when unexpected network issues arise.

Please note this is a fixed term contract for up to 1 year.

What you’ll be doing as a Systems Operations Analyst

  • Investigating pressure issues, customer complaints and network alarms, using data to understand problems and identify solutions.
  • Supporting planned network isolations and optimisation projects.
  • Assisting during unplanned and emergency events to minimise disruption to customers.
  • Helping investigate longer-term network issues, including low pressure, low flows, resilience and network integrity.
  • Making sure network activities follow the correct operational and risk-management procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
