Our client is a prestigious hedge fund seeking a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join their world-class platform engineering function. This Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and supporting the critical technology infrastructure that underpins a highly successful investment business operating across global offices, datacentres, and cloud environments.
They are looking for a Linux Infrastructure Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. The ideal Linux Infrastructure Engineer will thrive in complex, large-scale environments, enjoy solving challenging infrastructure problems, and take ownership of improving reliability, security, and automation. - Design, build, and maintain critical Linux-based infrastructure across global datacentres, cloud environments, and office locations.
- Drive improvements in platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the architecture, implementation, and integration of core infrastructure systems.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, operating system, and network-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing lasting solutions.
- Enhance infrastructure automation and reduce operational overhead through engineering-led improvements.
- Partner with security, infrastructure, and development teams on strategic technology initiatives.
- Support and evolve key platform services that underpin business-critical operations.
- Strengthen the firm's infrastructure security framework through best-practice design and implementation.
- Contribute to deployment automation, build systems, and CI/CD capabilities across the technology estate.
Key Skills & Experience
- 10+ years' experience supporting and engineering large-scale Linux infrastructure environments.
- Strong Python development and automation expertise.
- Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, system internals, and configuration management tools.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities across both host and network layers.
- Experience with automated build systems, software deployment frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure security principles and operational best practices.
- Solid understanding of network protocols and enterprise infrastructure services.
- Experience supporting DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, or similar core infrastructure technologies.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, large-scale storage environments, databases, and Windows/Linux integration.
- Knowledge of Rust, Go, Java, C, or C# would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills within globally distributed teams.
- Degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline preferred.
