Systems Test Engineer
Permanent | New Malden, hybrid | Verification & Validation | System Integration
The role:
We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer to support the verification and validation of complex software and hardware systems.
In this role, you will plan, prepare and execute testing activities throughout the product lifecycle, working closely with Software Engineers, Systems Engineers and Project Managers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys investigating technical challenges, improving quality and ensuring products perform as intended.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver verification and validation activities against system requirements.
- Develop test specifications, procedures and test cases.
- Execute functional, integration and system-level testing.
- Create and maintain physical and virtual test environments.
- Analyse test results and produce clear test reports.
- Investigate defects and support root cause analysis activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to drive issue resolution.
- Support continuous improvement of test processes, tools and automation.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a Systems Test, Integration Test, V&V or similar engineering role.
- Experience testing integrated software and hardware systems.
- Strong understanding of verification and validation principles.
- Experience producing test plans, specifications and reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain test environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working within structured engineering or regulated environments.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM discipline, or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills:
- Test automation experience using Python or similar scripting languages.
- Knowledge of hardware/software integration testing.
- Experience within defence, aerospace, transport, industrial automation or safety-critical environments.
- Experience supporting Agile delivery teams.
- Experience conducting formal verification and validation reviews.
Success in this role means ensuring comprehensive test coverage against system requirements, helping to identify and resolve defects early in the development lifecycle, and producing accurate, timely test reports that provide clear visibility of product quality. Working closely with engineering teams, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, performance and overall quality of complex systems, making a consistent contribution to successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
