About PORT
PORT is building the next-generation infrastructure layer for cities empowering urban logistics through electric vehicle fleets operated from a network of urban hubs. Our platform brings together couriers, logistics firms, and infrastructure owners in a new model for how goods move through cities.
Position Overview
We're hiring a hands-on Systems Test Engineer to join our team and ensure the reliability and excellence of our bikes, charging infrastructure, and other products.
This role combines rigorous systems thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be responsible for Verification and Validation (V&V) activities across our platforms, from design to serial support. You will design and build test equipment, develop and run test plans across hardware and firmware, and turn what you learn into concrete improvements to our products and processes.
You'll bring rigor to how PORT identifies and resolves technical issues, how we escalate risk, and how we continuously improve our operations, with clear data, engineering analysis, and decisive cross-functional coordination.
About You
The successful candidate won't hesitate to get hands-on in the lab to test any part of an electric-assisted bicycle. You should have an eye for detail when defining V&V best practices yet remain adaptable when troubleshooting in a fast-paced development environment.

We’re looking for someone who approaches validation with systems thinking. You are comfortable taking ownership of the test environment and passionate about driving continuous process improvements to elevate our validation standards.
What The Job Involves
- Take responsibility for the design, development, and maintenance of test equipment, and continuous improvement of our testing capabilities.
- Fleet health monitoring to identify, investigate, and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Design of experiment, data collection, and analysis from various products across the product lifecycle.
- Identify integration issues and bugs, performing root cause analysis and proposing fixes or mitigations in a timely manner.
- Plan, develop, and document new test methods, test scripts, and procedures.
- Designing and prototyping mechanical elements.
- Support failure mode and effect analysis analyses, ensuring all suitable validation activities are addressed as mitigations.
- Drive the definition of V&V best practices and continuous improvements.

Who You Are
- A proactive attitude toward problem-solving, curious, and continually strives to learn and acquire new skills.
- Experience in a systems V&V of electro-mechanical products within consumer electronics or medium-scale systems in regulated industries (e.g., automotive, aerospace, or medical devices).
- Experience in using testing to guide investigations of electro-mechanical systems and a comfort level working with physical test rigs and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to understand complex interactions between software, electronics, and mechanical subsystems.
- Analytical and a problem solver.
- Familiarity with uptime tracking, reliability metrics, or field support tooling.
- Comfortable communicating test results, risks, and status and ability to collaborate efficiently with different teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with IoT platforms, CAN bus, telematics, or battery charging protocols.
- Knowledge of validation tools, CAD, and/or 3D printing is desirable.
- Experience with automated testing scripts and knowledge of Python is desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of relevant technologies including battery, sensors, and actuator technologies is desirable.
- Engineering Technician or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, or a related technical field.
