About The Company

A successful, trend-led global fashion manufacturer supplying many of the UK’s leading high street retailers. The business works across established customer accounts, developing commercial, trend-driven collections and working closely with an international supplier base.

The Role

Working closely with the Senior Designer and wider product teams, you will be responsible for designing and developing commercial tailoring ranges for established high street customer accounts.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tailoring Designer to join a successful global manufacturer, working closely with major retail customers and Far East factories to take product from initial concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design commercial, trend-led tailoring ranges for leading high street retailers
  • Work across established customer accounts, understanding each retailer’s handwriting, customer and commercial requirements
  • Research and interpret relevant fashion, fabric, colour and silhouette trends
  • Create detailed tech packs and specifications for development and production
  • Work closely with Far East factories and suppliers throughout the development process
  • Attend customer meetings and confidently present ranges, concepts and new product ideas
  • Work with the Senior Designer and wider product teams to develop commercially viable collections
  • Review samples, fits, fabrics and trims, providing clear comments and amendments
  • Travel to Far East factories and suppliers when required
  • Ensure product is developed in line with customer requirements, target prices and critical path deadlines
  • Maintain a strong awareness of the competitive market and emerging high street trends
  • Manage multiple product developments and deadlines throughout the season
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams

About You

  • Minimum 4–5 years’ experience designing tailoring, ideally within a fashion supplier or manufacturer environment
  • Strong experience designing women’s tailoring
  • Previous supplier-side experience highly desirable
  • Experience working directly with Far East factories and suppliers
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrics and finishes
  • Experience creating accurate and detailed tech packs
  • Commercial, trend-led approach to design
  • Experience working with high street retailers and customer accounts
  • Confident presenting ranges and communicating directly with customers
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple developments and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially minded with a strong understanding of the high street
  • Able to balance trend, creativity, price and customer requirements
  • Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to the Far East as required
