The Vacancy
Connect with people. Partner with purpose. Build WGM’s future workforce.
WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for an experienced Talent Acquisition Partner to join our growing Resourcing team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will benefit from hybrid working, with travel to WGM locations across the UK where required. Flexible working will be considered.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of recruitment across an aligned area of the business and play a visible role in the continued development of WGM’s Strategic Resourcing capability.
You will partner closely with hiring managers and business leaders, helping them translate current vacancies, secured work, project pipelines and future capability requirements into effective recruitment plans. You will manage recruitment from initial briefing through to accepted offer, while ensuring candidates receive a warm, honest and professional experience.
As WGM continues to grow, you will also help strengthen hiring-manager capability, embed consistent and evidence-based recruitment practice and support a wider cultural shift towards more proactive, accountable and inclusive workforce decision-making.
You do not need previous engineering-sector experience to be successful in this role. What matters is strong end-to-end recruitment experience, the ability to build credibility with stakeholders and the curiosity to understand unfamiliar roles, candidate markets and business requirements within niche and regulated environments.
WGM Engineering has been delivering practical engineering solutions for more than 40 years and is experiencing significant growth across the UK water, utilities and essential infrastructure sectors. We combine in-house technical expertise, off-site engineering capability and a strong self-delivery model to achieve safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes for our clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Partner with hiring managers and business leaders to understand current vacancies, future workforce requirements and business-critical capability needs.
- Lead structured vacancy briefings and develop effective recruitment strategies across professional, technical, operational and corporate roles.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process across your aligned business area, from approval and attraction through to selection and accepted offer.
- Screen and qualify candidates, exploring their experience, capability, motivation, behaviours, career aspirations, availability and salary expectations.
- Work with the Talent Sourcing Specialist to define target candidate profiles, sourcing priorities, talent-mapping activity and future pipeline requirements.
- Coach and guide hiring managers on recruitment process, interviewing, assessment, candidate feedback and fair, evidence-based selection.
- Provide constructive challenge where role requirements, salary, location or selection decisions may restrict attraction, create bias or increase recruitment risk.
- Provide clear market insight on talent availability, salary expectations, candidate mobility, competitor activity and recruitment lead times.
- Ensure recruitment activity remains inclusive, appropriately documented and compliant with employment legislation, UK GDPR, right-to-work requirements and relevant WGM and RSK policies.
- Use recruitment data and stakeholder feedback to improve direct hiring, candidate experience, manager capability and WGM’s wider Strategic Resourcing approach.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Experience managing multiple vacancies and competing stakeholder priorities.
- The ability to understand unfamiliar roles, ask informed questions and translate business requirements into effective recruitment strategies.
- Experience using applicant-tracking systems, recruitment platforms and candidate-sourcing tools.
- Practical understanding of UK employment law and recruitment compliance, including equality and discrimination, reasonable adjustments, UK GDPR, right-to-work requirements, candidate confidentiality and appropriate recruitment records.
- A warm, credible and professional communication style, with the confidence to coach, influence and constructively challenge stakeholders.
Previous in-house Talent Acquisition Partner or Recruitment Business Partner experience would be beneficial.
Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing, energy, water or another technical environment would also be helpful, but is not essential.
