The Early Careers Senior Manager leads an in-house team of recruiters, with support from our global RPO team, to deliver our Early Careers hiring plan across a number of our key business areas. Working closely with our Talent Acquisition Business Partners, you’ll be responsible for understanding the talent needs across our business areas, taking the lead on delivery of recruitment approaches and hiring activities to meet the firm’s ongoing needs across Early Careers.

Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Director for Early Careers, this is a senior leadership role within the Early Careers Talent Acquisition team, which comprises two Senior Managers and our Head of Talent Engagement. Alongside your peers, you are responsible for leading your teams to deliver our hiring aligned to the demand plan. You will deliver both quality and value for the firm, ensuring Talent Acquisition offers a commercially effective solution for Deloitte – by enhancing the effectiveness of how we deliver our Early Careers recruitment through the ongoing design and transformation of early careers initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

Early Careers

  • Lead the recruitment team aligned to your business areas, with overall responsibility for the management of candidate pipelines and delivery against recruitment plans aligned to commercial priorities and workforce demand, via a variety of programmes including graduates, apprenticeships, internships and work experience, ensuring diversity metrics are achieved.
  • Proactively intervene to ensure adjustments in approach are made as required using data and analysis to inform approach.
  • Understand demand (skills, capabilities and numbers) for the different business areas resource requirements working in partnership with Talent Acquisition Business Partners.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing effective hiring initiatives to generate security of supply both via our existing programmes and identifying enhancements to existing approaches (and where required additional programmes) to develop and meet the firm’s future skills and capability needs.
  • Proactively provide thought leadership on the continuous development of recruitment approaches, anticipating market trends and identifying the right tools to deliver longer-term recruitment outcomes for the firm.
  • Take the lead in scenarios of complexity, navigating these using influencing skills, often in ambiguous and changing situations.
  • Be responsible for working with the RPO provider to model demand aligned to the commercial plan, to ensure proactive support and delivery of defined screening, scheduling and administrative services.
  • Responsible for producing and evaluating data insights to monitor key performance metrics, inform pipeline management and drive strategic decision making to ensure the right interventions and best practices are made within the Early Careers recruitment team to deliver quality, diverse hires aligned to the demand plan.
  • Anticipate risks, ensuring mitigation plans are in place and controls and processes are continuously improved, acting as a senior escalation point for your team and working closely with senior stakeholders across the firm and wider resourcing team to proactively resolving complex issues and market challenges.
  • Inputting as the subject matter expert to the development of engagement events, attraction collateral, assessment tools and the onboarding approach - ensuring these are well positioned to enable the delivery of our early careers hires into the firm.

Talent Acquisition Leader

  • Responsible for a high-performance culture within Early Careers, collaboratively building a shared vision and purpose for the function, connecting with teams to energise, inspire and motivate.
  • Responsible for delivering quality and value through detailed planning and delivery of the early careers campaign cycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement across Early Careers by taking an active lead in operational efficiency and continually striving to improve the end-to-end process, onboarding and experience.
  • Management of direct reports and wider team to deliver high-quality work ensuring performance is optimised throughout the year, recognised, and rewarded appropriately and where necessary, underperformance is addressed, whilst maintaining a healthy sense of wellbeing and role modelling the Deloitte leadership behaviours.
  • Monitor and respond to capacity levels within the team to allow workloads to be effectively managed, with resource being appropriately aligned to the different Business Areas.
  • Stay up to date with latest trends and innovations to ensure Deloitte remains ahead in the competition for hiring the best talent.
  • Work closely with the Director of Early Careers to drive key initiatives, develop and execute strategic plans, and prepare presentations, reports, and other materials as required.
  • Leverage long-term relationships to significantly influence senior leaders in the firm including HR Directors, Business Leads, COO’s and People and Purpose Partners.
  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition Directors to drive the transformation agenda and lead on projects and initiatives outside of the day-to-day remit, as appropriate.

Your professional experience:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) – In-depth and significant understanding of all aspects of early careers talent landscape in the UK, and RPO / Supplier management, ideally gained in a knowledge based or professional / technical skills environment. Operational excellence in the delivery of Talent Acquisition services.
  • Strategic leadership – Experience creating, implementing, and evolving hiring strategies within complex organisations, encompassing both volume and niche hiring, supported by strong project management skills.
  • Senior Stakeholder Management – acts as an SME on early careers related topics, operational delivery and RPO management. Uses leadership skills effectively to influence others and ensure effective delivery against business plans and recruitment strategies.
  • Team leadership and development – A track record of building high-performing teams, coaching individuals, fostering a positive team culture, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Communication & influencing – Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and gain buy-in.
  • Operational excellence – focused on achieving the best outcomes and delivering the best service to candidates and business stakeholders. A passion for process improvements and optimising ways of working to ensure consistency in how we deliver operational excellence.
  • Strong commercial acumen – strong commercial awareness coupled with the ability to develop, negotiate and deliver strong commercial relationships for Deloitte. Focused on the ROI and effective budget management.
  • Change agent – Experience leading change initiatives, proactively drives change in a structured and controlled way, seeking out opportunities to continually evolve our Talent Acquisition offerings for Deloitte.
  • Analytical and insightful – able to use data and MI effectively to undertake analysis and develop appropriate insights. Proactively uses analytics and insights to manage teams to deliver operational excellence, and when developing strategy and business cases.
  • Complex workload/project management – able to plan and organise work effectively for self and others in a complex and ever-changing environment. Logical and pragmatic approach to delivering results with the ability to flex and adapt approach to ensure effective delivery, even when faced with unexpected changes or challenges.
  • Effective escalation – able to work autonomously but also able to understand where matters require further approval or escalation in order to resolve.
  • Operational compliance & best practice – Working knowledge of talent acquisition processes, best practice, performance metrics, policies, laws, and regulations.
