The role is expected to operate on an approximate 75% external permanent recruitment and client development basis, and 25% internal recruitment support basis.
The key purpose of the role is to act as the external face of recruitment for Newcross, identifying and developing commercial opportunities, generating client leads, building trusted relationships with external stakeholders and supporting permanent recruitment activity that contributes directly to revenue growth, client engagement, permanent placement delivery and service quality.
Key Responsibilities

- Act as the external face of recruitment for Newcross, representing the business professionally with clients, prospective clients, senior stakeholders and external partners.
- Proactively identify, approach and develop new client leads and commercial opportunities to grow the permanent recruitment client base.
- Meet with clients and prospective clients to understand recruitment needs, build relationships, support commercial conversations and position Newcross Recruit as a credible permanent recruitment partner.
- Work towards commercially driven KPIs linked to client engagement, lead generation, permanent placements, conversion, revenue generation, service quality and client satisfaction.
- Develop external sourcing strategies to attract, engage and place high-quality permanent candidates into client roles, using LinkedIn, CV databases, direct sourcing, referrals and other effective channels.
- Manage the end-to-end permanent recruitment process for external clients, including role briefing, candidate attraction, screening, shortlist presentation, interview coordination, offer management and post-placement follow-up.
- Deliver a high-quality client and candidate experience that protects and strengthens the Newcross brand and supports long-term client retention.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, client activity, vacancy, conversion and placement data to support commercial reporting and performance tracking.
- Provide internal recruitment support for Group Functions and FuturU vacancies where required, acting as a recruitment partner to hiring managers as a secondary element of the role.
- Support internal hiring managers with vacancy scoping, sourcing plans, candidate screening, interview coordination and offer management where internal recruitment activity is required.
- Provide cross-functional recruitment support across HealthForce recruitment where required, including providing cover and continuity during manager annual leave, absence or periods of operational need.
- Ensure recruitment activity is compliant, fair, inclusive and aligned with Newcross values, employment legislation and internal processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of recruitment systems, processes, candidate engagement and commercial recruitment reporting.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure successful candidate onboarding, compliance handover and client follow-up where permanent placements are made.
- Support Newcross Recruit growth activity by sharing market insight, client feedback, competitor intelligence and opportunities for service development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
