BrighterBox

BrighterBox is a different kind of graduate recruitment company, connecting ambitious grads and early-career talent with brilliant opportunities at companies they actually care about.

We've spent the last decade building BrighterBox in London, working with fast-growing startups, scaleups and entrepreneurial businesses in everything from tech and AI to PR, media, fitness, marketplaces and consumer brands.

Now we're launching BrighterBox North, based in Manchester, and we're looking for someone brilliant to help us build it.

No stuffy corporate recruitment environment. No endless cold calling. No selling people jobs they don't want.

We're looking for someone bright, curious and entrepreneurial who wants to learn recruitment properly, work closely with the founder and play a genuine part in growing the business in Manchester and beyond.

What you'll be doing

  1. Finding brilliant people

A huge part of the job is finding people who aren't always obvious on paper.

You'll use LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, our own database, referrals and a fair bit of internet detective work to find interesting candidates for the companies we work with.

You'll speak to graduates and early-career candidates every day, get to understand what they're good at and what they actually want to do, then work out where they might fit.

If you've ever considered the MI5 grad scheme or have an uncanny ability to find someone online with very little information to go on, those skills will come in surprisingly handy.

  1. Working with our clients

Once you understand our clients and the types of people they're looking for, you'll start taking more ownership of the recruitment process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That means putting together shortlists, arranging interviews, gathering feedback, helping candidates prepare and ultimately making placements.

There's persuasion and negotiation involved, but we're not interested in being pushy recruiters. Good recruitment is much more about judgement, communication, empathy and knowing when to give someone a nudge.

  1. Helping build BrighterBox North

This is the bit that makes the role slightly different.

You'll be joining right at the beginning of BrighterBox North and working closely with the founder to grow it.

That could mean helping us win new clients around Manchester, improving how we use AI and automation, creating content, digging into our data, building relationships with universities or coming up with entirely new ways of finding great candidates.

We generally think of roles at BrighterBox as roughly 80% recruitment and 20% special projects. If you're particularly good at something, we'd like to find a way of using it.

What we're looking for

You don't need recruitment experience. In fact, we'd be very happy if you've never worked in recruitment before.

We're much more interested in whether you:

  • Have great energy and are fun to work with
  • Are naturally curious about people, companies and how businesses work
  • Are happy picking up the phone and speaking to people you've never met
  • Can write a really good email and understand that tone matters
  • Are organised and properly detail-focused
  • Have a bit of healthy competitiveness
  • Are comfortable taking responsibility rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Care about giving people a genuinely good experience
  • Like the idea of joining something small and helping build it

This would particularly suit someone early in their career who wants plenty of responsibility quickly and likes the idea of working somewhere entrepreneurial rather than joining a huge graduate scheme.

What we care about

People

We're a small business and want BrighterBox to be somewhere people genuinely enjoy working. We care about doing good work, treating people properly and having a life outside the office.

Diversity & inclusion

We're committed to helping businesses build more representative interview shortlists and continually review how we advertise roles, source candidates and run our recruitment processes.

Having a bit of fun

We want BrighterBox North to have plenty of personality, socials and reasons to actually enjoy coming to work.

Rewards

There's a basic salary plus commission, with the opportunity to increase your earnings quickly as you become more experienced and start making placements.

We'd expect a successful hire to be earning upwards of £35,000 in their first year and £50,000 in year two.

More importantly, you'll have the opportunity to get in early, work directly with the founder and potentially take on significant responsibility as BrighterBox North grows.
