Slalom is a global, human-centric business and technology consulting firm. We partner with organisations to solve complex challenges and achieve transformative outcomes through strategy, technology, data and business transformation services.
Our UK&I Transformation team helps organisations make change happen, and make it stick. We work with leaders to reshape how their organisations operate, from structures, processes and ways of working to capabilities and culture, so that investments in strategy and technology translate into lasting outcomes for people and performance.
Unlike traditional consultancies, we don’t hand over a report and walk away. We work alongside our clients from design through to adoption, putting people at the centre of change and building the capability our clients need to sustain it long after we leave.
Principal, Workforce, Organisation Design & Talent
As a Principal within our Transformation team, you will lead our work across Workforce Planning, Organisation Design, HR Advisory and Talent Optimisation. You will help clients build organisations and workforces that are ready for the future and help us grow our reputation and business in this space.
You will lead your own engagements and client relationships end to end, working with executives, CHROs and HR leadership teams to diagnose challenges, shape solutions and deliver outcomes. You will also play a key role in growing the offering: spotting opportunities, shaping proposals and developing our propositions.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner with deep people and organisation expertise, who is credible in front of senior clients and comfortable leading teams. Whether your background is in consulting, in-house HR, or a combination of both, you will bring a passion for helping organisations get the very best from their people.
What Will You Do?
- Lead the delivery of client engagements across workforce planning, organisation design, HR advisory and talent, taking accountability for quality, outcomes and commercial performance.
- Own and grow senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to executives, CHROs and HR leadership teams.
- Lead strategic workforce planning, helping clients understand future skills and capacity needs, including the impact of AI and automation, and build practical plans to close the gaps.
- Design organisational structures, spans and layers, roles and responsibilities, and the transition plans needed to implement them.
- Advise HR functions on their operating model, processes, policies and capabilities, including HR transformation and technology-enabled change.
- Shape talent strategies that attract, develop, deploy and retain people, including skills and capability frameworks, career architecture and succession planning.
- Make sure people and organisation changes land well, working with change management colleagues on engagement, consultation and adoption.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities, scope and shape engagements with clients, and lead proposal development.
- Develop our propositions, methods and thought leadership in this space, and represent Slalom at client and industry events.
- Lead, coach and develop consultants, contributing to the growth and culture of our Transformation team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
