Role Description

The Talented Fractional CFO/FD will provide strategic and operational finance leadership to a portfolio of growing businesses. This hybrid role with some work required on client sites, with the flexibility to work from home partially. The role involves analyzing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and presenting clear recommendations to founders and management teams. The Fractional CFO/FD will also support cash flow management, budgeting, funding discussions, and improvements to financial controls and reporting systems. This position requires regular collaboration with clients, participation in leadership meetings, and translating financial data into actionable business decisions.

  • Strong finance and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, commercial insights.
  • Expertise in financial statements and financial reporting, including producing and reviewing management and statutory accounts.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for SMEs or entrepreneurial businesses.
  • Proven background in senior finance roles (CFO, FD, or equivalent), ideally within a fractional or consultancy setting.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid model across the UK, with strong self-management and remote collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Track record of improving financial processes, controls, and reporting to support business growth.
