Job Details
The Work Health and Skills team part of Economic Affairs are looking to recruit a Project Coordinator for the Talk English team, working with tutors and volunteers and managing the Talk English classes as well as across multiple Microsoft applications and digital platforms.
There will also be opportunities to get involved in the wider work of the team including the variety of different projects and events that we are responsible for delivering.
The role will be supporting the project that works with people from a variety of different communities and backgrounds, so it’s important that the person has a good understanding of some of the economic inequalities that people experience and the impact that this can have, especially on those that face multiple barriers including lack of English language.
The Talk English team works with a large number of people whose first language isn’t English, so we need someone that is able to communicate effectively with this cohort and have an understanding of the different ethnic and cultural backgrounds that live across the borough.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
