Role Overview
The post holder will be expected to assist with the coordination and facilitation of the TAVI service at UHNM under the guidance and supervision of the Band 7 TAVI Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant Cardiologist.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing care to patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing TAVI.
- Coordinating investigations and providing educational support pre and post procedure.
- Assist with the development of the TAVI service to improve the patient pathway from referral through to post-procedure follow up, contributing to service improvement initiatives as directed by senior staff.
- Participate in weekly TAVI MDT discussions for case planning, contributing nursing input while recognising senior clinical decision-making responsibility.
- Assist in the development of the clinical services within the TAVI service.
- To assist with the smooth planning, implementation and running of the TAVI service.
- Assist in the referral and management of both inpatient and outpatient case load.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based TAVI nursing care within agreed clinical pathways, escalating complex or high risk decisions appropriately.
- Provide specialist nursing advice and clinical practice in relation to the specialty, in collaboration with the Band 7 CNS and medical team.
- Liaise with networks within the specialty at local, national and international level to exchange and enhance knowledge and expertise.
- Be involved in the development and implementation of outpatient clinics for patients requiring assessment, ongoing care and counselling, supporting clinics led by senior clinicians or the Band 7 CNS.
