Tax Adviser / Tax Accountant

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne and Alnwick

Working pattern: Part time, 3 to 4 days per week

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Job type: Permanent

The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded organisation is looking to appoint a Tax Adviser or Tax Accountant to join its finance team.

This is a varied in-house role offering exposure across corporate, personal, trust and estate taxation. You will work closely with an experienced Senior Tax Controller, internal finance colleagues and external advisers, supporting the organisation with tax compliance, reporting and planning across a diverse group structure.

The role does not require someone to be an expert across every area of tax from day one. It could suit an experienced tax professional seeking a broader in-house position, or someone from an accountancy practice who has gained exposure across personal tax, corporation tax, private clients, trusts or estates and would like to continue developing in these areas.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax compliance
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT, CIS and other statutory tax submissions
  • Assisting with personal, trust and estate tax matters
  • Preparing tax returns, calculations and supporting schedules
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to investments, gifts, transfers and asset valuations
  • Monitoring tax deadlines, liabilities and upcoming payments
  • Supporting tax estimates for budgeting and quarterly reporting
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting relating to tax liabilities
  • Liaising with HMRC, external tax advisers and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the Senior Tax Controller with tax planning and advisory work
  • Monitoring relevant legislative and regulatory developments
  • Explaining tax matters clearly to colleagues outside the finance team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
