Tax Accountant

This large public sector organisation is looking to recruit a Tax Accountant to focus on Corporation, VAT, and CIS Tax Returns. Based in the London office, you will provide expertise and support on tax advisory, forecasting, preparation, and reporting. The role is an 18-month Fixed Term Contract.

Description

The Tax Accountant will be working in a small team and be responsible for:

  • Leading on Corporation Tax to ensure accurate and timely return submissions are performed.
  • Forecasting and payment of liabilities throughout the year and appropriate strategic tax management (including maximising capital allowances claims).
  • Undertaking preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT returns, including the partial exemption calculation.
  • Managing Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) to ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of the monthly CIS returns.
  • Review of CIS vendor population to ensure accurate deductions.
  • Leading on preparing statutory accounts tax notes, Corporation Tax, and Deferred Tax provisioning calculations.
  • Accurate and timely drafting of Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certificate.
  • Developing and implementing performance metrics to evaluate tax operations against key organisational benchmarks.

The successful Tax Accountant will be a Qualified Accountant/Finance Professional (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with a background in Tax and Tax Returns.

You will need to be proactive and have previous exposure to identifying and resolving tax issues, some going back over previous periods.

Excellent Communication Skills (verbal And Written) Are Essential.

Job Offer

A salary ranging from £50,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience, plus an excellent benefits package including a discretionary bonus scheme.

The role will be based in London and will offer hybrid working where you will be expected to attend the office 1 day a week.
