Overall Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Accountant to join our ECIS Region Finance team in Aberdeen. In this role, you will provide tax advice and support to the Region Tax Manager, and wider Finance Team, ensuring full compliance with local tax legislation and company policies, whilst helping to minimize tax exposure.

You will be responsible for direct tax compliance in the UK and assisting with filings in applicable overseas jurisdictions (including the required analysis); tax accounting; assisting with documentation and compliance monitoring and providing guidance on tax-related matters across the business.

Key Activities And Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by supporting the Regional Tax Manager in gathering necessary documentation and information and analysing financial data using company systems such as SAP and TM1.
  • Prepare accurate UK corporation tax returns, in compliance with relevant legislation and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with review of corporation tax returns for applicable international jurisdictions outwith the UK.
  • Prepare and review tax disclosures within statutory Financial Statements.
  • Assist with Region quarterly tax reporting processes, including tax estimation, tax account preparation/analysis, balance sheet reconciliation of tax accounts, and disclosures required for US regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tax-related documents and transactions to support tax reporting and regulatory requirements, and maintain compliance trackers to ensure all statutory filing deadlines are met.
  • Assist in the preparation and collation of documentation required for tax audits and enquiries.
  • Conduct research to answer ad hoc queries on all taxes as requested by the business and summarise findings for the Regional Tax Manager. Communicate effectively with Region Finance team and other areas of the business to provide tax-related assistance.
  • Estimate and facilitate tax payments, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within tax compliance processes.

Job Knowledge And Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a finance role with a strong focus on tax reporting and compliance.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP/finance system.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
