The Tax Analyst

The Tax Analyst will be an integral part of the UK tax team. You will have the opportunity to work with the wider tax team and business, taking an active role in assisting the team to ensure the UK group is compliant with all relevant tax legislation. You will help research specific tax issues to respond to business challenges and support with digitalising processes. This will allow you to grow your tax knowledge and experience as you develop in this role, demonstrating your drive and eagerness to develop your career.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Direct & Indirect tax teams in gathering, processing and analysing data required for corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes, customs & excise and environment taxes compliance
  • Upload data into tax return software and start tax return preparation processes, including identifying tax sensitive items and processing them accordingly to support monthly, quarterly and annual tax compliance processes
  • Reconcile tax payments and prepare manual payment requests for approval
  • Support with analysing the impact of new tax law announcements and supporting the implementation of new processes to comply with such tax law changes
  • Support the team with digitalisation of UK tax processes
  • Undertake tax compliance administrative tasks including completing standard tax compliance application forms, monitoring compliance deadlines and processes

Your profile

Essential

  • Qualified ATT/AAT or studying one of those or a comparable qualification
  • Experience with, and developing knowledge of, UK corporation tax, VAT and/or employment taxes gained within an accountancy firm or within a major corporate group
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to convey tax within a business context
  • Driven to develop a career within tax, ability and willingness to improve tax technical knowledge, techniques and processes, and interested in process digitalisation

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an in-house tax team with a broad range of tax experience across the main UK taxes, sufficient to be able to identify & communicate issues affecting the UK Group
  • Experience of SAP, Alteryx, MS Power and Thomson Reuters Onesource Corporation Tax and Indirect Tax compliance software
  • Ability to establish and maintain a key network of contacts within the tax function and wider UK business, with external service providers and with peers within the industry
