The Tax team is highly regarded and currently comprises three Partners, two Senior Managers, one Manager, one Assistant Manager and a Tax Executive. The team advises a broad range of UK and international clients across Tax Advisory, Tax Compliance and Tax Disputes, with particular expertise in advising entrepreneurial businesses, international private clients and family offices.

Working closely with experienced Tax Partners and senior members of the team, you will gain exposure to complex advisory matters while developing your technical expertise across a broad spectrum of UK tax issues. The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Tax Assistant Manager to join a growing and ambitious team, supporting Partners and senior colleagues on a varied mix of advisory and compliance work whilst taking on increasing client responsibility.

You will work across a broad range of UK tax matters, assisting with technical advisory projects, compliance work, client management and business development initiatives. The role offers excellent exposure to complex private client and owner-managed business matters, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden both their technical and commercial experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking technical research into UK tax legislation, HMRC practice and relevant case law.
  • Analysing financial data and preparing tax computations using Excel and other technology.
  • Reviewing client documentation, identifying potential tax issues and preparing summaries with practical recommendations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of tax advisory reports, letters, memoranda and client correspondence.
  • Attending client and third-party adviser meetings, taking instructions and responding to client queries.
  • Supporting advisory, compliance and tax dispute matters across a broad client base.
  • Assisting with the preparation of marketing materials, technical publications and thought leadership alongside the firm's marketing team.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and professional advisers while delivering an exceptional standard of client service.
  • Supporting the continued growth of the practice through business development and networking initiatives where appropriate.

Working alongside highly experienced Tax Partners and Senior Managers, you will receive excellent mentoring and technical training, with genuine opportunities to progress your career as the team continues to expand.

Requirements

  • Degree educated (minimum 2:1), preferably BA or BSc.
  • CTA qualified and/or ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Experience within UK tax compliance, including managing or assisting with a portfolio of clients.
  • Experience preparing tax returns and ideally undertaking first reviews of tax returns.
  • Experience assisting with tax advisory reports, ideally with exposure to Owner Managed Businesses (OMBs).
  • Exposure to international private client tax matters would be advantageous, including experience involving non-UK structures.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret financial information accurately.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, with an interest in utilising AI and technology to improve efficiency.
  • A proactive, commercially minded and client-focused approach.
