Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Tax Manager to join our team in Wetherby focusing on Personal Tax. This role offers a suitable candidate the chance to be part of a growing team, gaining broad experience across private client services, with a clear route for progression.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Manager who is ready to step up, take ownership of a portfolio, and build their advisory skillset alongside compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the income tax compliance for a portfolio of clients, as a continuing element of the role.
  • Prepare income tax computations and returns.
  • Liaise with HMRC in respect of client matters.
  • Perform research on tax technical issues and assist in drafting relevant tax advice for clients as required.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and other service providers.
  • Take on advisory work as your experience develops, working alongside senior colleagues on client matters beyond core compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of the wider tax team, with a view to progressing into a department-leading role over time.

Requirements

Key Requirements

  • ATT/CTA qualified with relevant experience

Additional Requirements

  • Previous experience working with private clients, advising on personal taxation, shareholder matters and estate and succession planning would be preferable but not essential.
  • A desire to develop strong tax technical knowledge across CGT and income tax, with a broad knowledge across other tax heads.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Genuine interest in progression, with ambition to move into a leadership role within the department.
