Tax Assistant | £27,000 - £35,000 | North Leeds | Hybrid

Are you an experienced Tax Assistant looking for a role where you'll have genuine client exposure, work with interesting individuals and businesses, and have the opportunity to develop your career?
We're working with a long-established independent accountancy practice in North Leeds that is looking to strengthen its tax team with a Tax Assistant.
Established for almost 90 years, the firm has built a strong reputation for the quality of its work and the relationships it develops with clients. The Leeds office has recently undergone a significant refurbishment, creating a modern and professional working environment.
The Role
You'll manage your own portfolio of approximately 150 personal tax clients, including High-Net-Worth Individuals, company directors and partnerships.

- Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
- Dealing with client queries and providing tax advice where appropriate
- Managing payment reminders and other client correspondence
- Liaising with HMRC on a range of queries
- Working with solicitors, accountants, tax advisers and independent financial advisers
- Supporting the Tax Manager and Assistant Managers with more complex tax returns
- Assisting with Making Tax Digital quarterly submissions
- Supporting corporation tax computations and CT600s
- Helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the tax department
You'll have plenty of opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while working closely with experienced members of the team.
What They're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
- At least 18 months' relevant experience within an accountancy practice
- Previous experience preparing personal tax returns
- Strong communication and client management skills
- A proactive and organised approach
- A dependable and professional attitude
- The ability to manage your own workload and take ownership
