Build Your VAT Career in an International In-House Environment
We are looking for an experienced VAT Compliance Consultant to join an established in-house Indirect Tax team, supporting VAT and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA and APAC.
This is an excellent opportunity for a VAT professional who enjoys combining hands-on compliance work with international exposure, stakeholder coordination, issue resolution and continuous process improvement.
You will work closely with internal Finance teams, external tax advisors and other stakeholders to ensure indirect tax obligations are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.
What You’ll Do
VAT & Indirect Tax Compliance
- Manage the end-to-end VAT compliance cycle across multiple EMEA and APAC jurisdictions.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Support sales and purchase listings, Intrastat and other supplementary indirect tax filings.
- Ensure compliance activities are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Finance & External Advisor Coordination
- Work closely with internal Finance teams and external tax service providers.
- Share source reports and supporting financial information.
- Review draft VAT returns and supporting documentation.
- Review General Ledger account reconciliations related to indirect tax.

Filing & Payment Governance
- Ensure appropriate internal approvals are obtained before VAT filings.
- Coordinate timely tax payments.
- Maintain accurate compliance documentation and audit trails.
Exception Management & Issue Resolution
- Support VAT exception reporting and investigation.
- Identify and escalate data anomalies.
- Work with Finance and other stakeholders to resolve transactional or system-related VAT issues.
Tax Audits & Enquiries
- Support indirect tax audits and authority enquiries across assigned jurisdictions.
- Gather relevant financial data and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate information required by external tax advisors.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to improve VAT compliance processes.
- Support automation and efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute to stronger controls, data quality and reporting.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on VAT compliance experience.
- Strong understanding of VAT/GST mechanisms and indirect tax compliance.
- Experience preparing or reviewing VAT returns and related indirect tax filings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Business or a related field.
- Recognized VAT or indirect tax qualification such as CTA, ATT or regional equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Finance teams, tax specialists and external advisors.

Preferred Experience
- Previous experience working within an in-house Tax or Finance function.
- Combination of Big 4 / Top Tier advisory and in-house experience.
- Exposure to VAT compliance across multiple EMEA and/or APAC jurisdictions.
- Experience using SAP or another enterprise ERP system.
- Experience supporting tax audits, reconciliations and compliance controls.
- Interest or experience in tax process automation and continuous improvement.
