About Hoxton Tax

Hoxton Tax is the Tax division of Hoxton Wealth, providing specialist advice to high-net-worth individuals, internationally mobile clients, families, and their Trusts.

We work closely with Hoxton Wealth clients while also supporting independent clients, offering tailored solutions across UK personal tax, with a particular focus on international and global mobility matters, wealth structuring, and long-term planning.

Technology is a key pillar of Hoxton Tax's future-focused approach. We are investing in modern systems, data-driven processes, and the responsible use of AI to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight across our work. By streamlining compliance and administrative processes, we create more time for what matters most: understanding our clients, building strong relationships, and delivering clear, well-judged advice.

We are building a firm that is practical, client-led, and forward-thinking, focused on delivering clear, commercially aware advice that clients can trust, while fostering strong relationships with both clients and their wider adviser networks.

As part of the next stage of Hoxton Tax's growth, we are now looking to establish a dedicated UK/US private client tax offering. This will be a new area for the Hoxton Tax team and represents an important opportunity to broaden the support we can provide to Hoxton Wealth's international client base.

Joining Hoxton Tax at this stage provides an opportunity not simply to join an established practice, but to help shape and build a new service line within a growing international tax business.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director – UK/US Private Client Taxation to establish, lead, and develop our new UK/US tax offering.

This is a leadership role combining technical excellence, client relationship management, team development, and business growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping how Hoxton Tax delivers UK/US services, including working with the Head of Tax to develop the technical framework, processes, proposition, and team required to support the growth of this new area.

The role will focus predominantly on private clients and trusts, advising high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and internationally mobile clients with tax obligations across the UK and US.

The successful candidate will provide joined-up UK and US tax compliance and advisory services while working closely with the wider Hoxton Tax and Hoxton Wealth teams.

There is an existing opportunity within the wider Hoxton client base, particularly amongst internationally mobile individuals and families with UK and US connections.

The Tax Director will play a central role in developing this opportunity while also building an external network and bringing new UK/US clients into the business.

Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Technical Leadership

  • Act as a trusted adviser to high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and internationally mobile clients with UK and US tax considerations.
  • Provide integrated UK and US tax advice across a broad range of private client matters, including:
    • UK and US individual income taxation and reporting
    • UK and US tax residence and cross-border residence issues
    • Application and interpretation of the UK/US Double Taxation Agreement
    • Double taxation relief and foreign tax credits
    • US federal and state tax considerations
    • US foreign asset and information reporting requirements, including FBAR and other relevant filings
    • Taxation of investment income and capital gains
    • UK and US pensions and retirement arrangements
    • Trust taxation and reporting in both the UK and US
    • UK trusts with US settlors, trustees, or beneficiaries
    • US trusts and their treatment for UK tax purposes
    • UK inheritance tax and US estate and gift tax
    • Lifetime gifting, succession, and estate planning
    • Pre-arrival and departure planning for individuals moving between the UK and US
    • The interaction between tax and wider wealth planning for internationally mobile individuals and families
  • Lead and review complex advisory and compliance engagements, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and effective risk management.
  • Identify differences in the UK and US treatment of assets, structures, and transactions and provide clients with clear, practical advice on the interaction between the two tax systems.
  • Monitor UK and US legislative and regulatory developments and proactively identify implications and planning opportunities for clients.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate technical standards and risk management procedures for the new UK/US offering.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Compliance & Portfolio Management

  • Build, lead, and manage a portfolio of UK/US private clients and trusts, taking overall responsibility for the quality and delivery of their tax affairs.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of UK and US individual and trust tax returns, disclosures, and associated reporting.
  • Ensure compliance work is technically accurate, appropriately reviewed, and completed in accordance with relevant filing and payment deadlines.
  • Manage complex cases involving tax obligations and reporting requirements in both jurisdictions.
  • Ensure UK and US compliance obligations are considered together rather than in isolation, identifying potential mismatches or double taxation issues.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist advisers where matters fall outside the firm's direct scope of expertise.

Building the UK/US Tax Offering

As this is a new service area for Hoxton Tax, a key part of the role will be helping to build the proposition from the ground up.

The Tax Director will:

  • Take a leading role in designing and establishing Hoxton Tax's UK/US private client service offering.
  • Help define the scope of services, technical standards, processes, workflows, and quality controls required to deliver UK/US work effectively.
  • Work with the Head of Tax to develop the commercial strategy for the UK/US offering.
  • Identify opportunities within the existing Hoxton Wealth and Hoxton Tax client base.
  • Help determine the future resource and recruitment requirements of the UK/US team as the service grows.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead additional UK/US tax professionals as the client base expands.
  • Support the development of systems and technology to enable efficient delivery of UK and US compliance services.
  • Help establish Hoxton Tax as a recognised provider of high-quality UK/US private client tax advice.

This is therefore an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than manage an existing portfolio. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape, build, and ultimately lead a significant new area of the Hoxton Tax business.

Client & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and their wider professional adviser networks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for strategic UK/US tax matters.
  • Explain complex cross-border tax issues clearly and practically, helping clients understand both their tax position and the actions required.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients' wider financial and family circumstances to ensure tax advice is commercially relevant and appropriately joined up.
  • Identify advisory opportunities arising from changes in clients' residence, investments, retirement arrangements, family circumstances, or estate planning.
