YOUR IMPACT
Goldman Sachs is seeking a VP based in London, as part of the EMEA VAT team, to provide advice to the various businesses and support in the management and operation of the VAT compliance process. The role will cover Indirect Tax advice and support across EMEA Indirect issues. Responsibilities include:
- Providing advisory support to the business including global banking, commodities, asset, and private wealth management business lines.
- Advising on the VAT implications of business change, expansion, and restructure across the EMEA region.
- Significant role in the management of the outsourced VAT compliance provider for EMEA Indirect Tax through regular meetings and calls.
- Working with the wider EMEA VAT team, outsourced provider, and internal tax technology team to implement tax technology solutions, process improvements, and improved use of AI and analytics.
- Interaction with teams across the firm to ensure the maintenance of the VAT control framework to manage risks.
- Actively participate in managing the relationship with Tax Authorities including input into tax authority audits across EMEA.
- Ability to work with the wider Finance team to understand the impact of VAT on the financial statements and confidence to interact with Finance and Operations teams to ensure VAT is coded correctly in payment systems, upstream applications, and the general ledger.
- Assist outsourced service provider to perform Balance Sheet Substantiation process which involves reconciliation of accounting records to VAT returns.
- Ad-hoc business support in product and operational taxation matters

The Successful Candidate's CV:
- In-house / practice experience with a complex financial services group with at least 3-5 years experience in financial services plus wider VAT experience.
- Strong indirect taxation advisory and compliance experience.
- Tax/accounting qualified.
- Good understanding of or practical experience with UK VAT laws and a solid understanding of the rules in EU territories.
- Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects, is organized, possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and able to deliver on tight deadlines.
- Highly motivated, hard-working, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
