Tax Investigations Manager

Yorkshire | Hybrid | £60,000-£80,000 + benefits

Tax Investigations. Real responsibility. Genuine progression.

I'm working with a highly regarded UK accountancy and advisory firm that is continuing to strengthen its specialist tax offering and is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Investigations Manager. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond routine compliance and take ownership of complex, high-value HMRC investigations and tax disputes.

The Role

You'll manage your own portfolio of investigations, working closely with clients, HMRC and senior members of the tax team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing complex HMRC enquiries and investigations
  • Handling COP8, COP9 and WDF matters
  • Advising individuals, owner-managed businesses and corporate clients
  • Managing voluntary disclosures and settlement negotiations
  • Preparing technical submissions and responses to HMRC
  • Working directly with HMRC case officers
  • Identifying technical and commercial risks for clients
  • Supporting more junior members of the team
  • Developing strong, long-term client relationships

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
