Tax Disputes Senior Manager
London | £70,000 - £80,000 + benefits | Hybrid
A genuinely exciting opportunity has opened up with a highly regarded Top 50 accountancy firm that is continuing to grow its Tax Disputes & Investigations offering.
This is not a role where you'll simply inherit a portfolio and maintain the status quo. The firm is looking for someone who wants to take ownership of complex work, build strong client relationships and play a genuine part in the continued growth of the team.
The Opportunity
You'll be working across a broad range of complex and high-value tax investigations and disputes, with significant exposure to HMRC and senior client stakeholders. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead complex HMRC investigations, enquiries and tax disputes.
- Take ownership of COP8 and COP9 cases through to resolution.
- Advise individuals and businesses on high-risk and contentious tax matters.
- Lead settlement negotiations and work directly with HMRC.
- Manage a portfolio of interesting and technically challenging cases.
- Build and develop long-term client relationships.
- Work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders on major cases.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Help shape and grow the firm's Tax Disputes & Investigations offering.
- Mentor and develop more junior members of the team.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a strong track record in Tax Disputes or Tax Investigations, who is comfortable taking ownership of complex cases and dealing directly with clients and HMRC. You'll ideally have:
- Strong Tax Disputes / Tax Investigations experience.
- Hands-on COP8 and COP9 experience - essential.
- Proven experience managing complex HMRC enquiries and investigations.
- Strong technical knowledge of contentious tax matters.
- Excellent communication and client-management skills.
- A commercial approach and appetite for business development.
- Experience operating at Senior Manager level, or the capability to step up.
- Ex-HMRC experience is highly desirable and would be particularly attractive for this role.
