Interim Tax Manager/Director
Equifind are excited to have joined up with a leading investment firm in London, who are looking for an interim tax manager/director to join the business, to assist them with multiple tax projects and assignments.
We’re looking for someone who has a strong background in tax and understands fund structures. You will be dealing with stakeholders all across the business for many international locations and lead a programme to rationalise and simplify group structure.
This is a real hands-on, get in the detail opportunity, where you will be given full autonomy to make tax decisions that will shape the business for the years ahead.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Review current Group structures and functions in order to recommend a rationalisation plan to implement
- Building the business case for each phase of the rationalisation, quantifying cost savings, potential tax consequences and valuation implications for the portfolio
- Present findings to the investment committee
- Leading the execution of approved plans, while coordinating with external stakeholders such as legal, tax and insolvency advisers, to manage board approvals, filings and timetables
- Designing and implementing a tax control environment, ensuring processes and controls are effective and efficient in managing tax risks, tax payments and tax assumptions
- Establishing and maintaining a tax risk matrix, ensuring risks are assessed, owned, reported, and actively managed
- Assessing the overall tax position of the group and identifying key areas of risk, particularly VAT, transfer pricing and exit strategies, then developing and executing a plan to address them
- Creating and executing plans to preserve tax losses within the group, including assessing the impact of restructuring, changes in ownership and disposals
- Setting tax assumptions on tax losses and capital allowances for all UK and European portfolios for use in quarterly valuations, coaching team members on the tax assumption template, and establishing a process for periodic updates
- Setting up processes to review and challenge business rates and property taxes in the UK and European regions, working with rating agents and local advisers when needed
- Leading discussions with external tax advisers and tax authorities, including HMRC and European tax offices, on tax and VAT enquiries, inspections and disputes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
