What You’ll Do (The Role)
Summary
The Tax Manager UK will take a lead role in the management of Lightsource bp’s consolidated tax reporting & forecasting and governance process. In addition, you will manage the UK and Ireland regions tax compliance, transfer pricing, advisory and planning, M&A and tax projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tax Reporting, Tax Forecasting and Tax accounting
- Ownership and overall responsibility for the group's consolidated financial tax reporting at year end under IFRS, covering the group tax charge and balance sheet position and all group statutory tax disclosures.
- Process involves calculation of all overseas local entities tax reporting calculations for current and deferred taxes under IFRS and determination of any uncertain tax positions etc.
- External statutory auditor lead for the whole process from preclose planning through to tax clearance sign off.
- Provide timely P&L and cash tax forecasting and budgeting process for the LSbp group and tracking v/s actuals.
- Responsible for Group tax reporting requirements for Pillar 2 and CbCR
- Developing underlying process to support all the above workstreams e.g. excel modelling, tax packs for material entities, maintaining balance sheet movements, ensure tax entries in ledger are correctly recorded
- Lead for all tax accounting technical matters e.g. tax accounting impacts for acquisitions and disposals of subsidiaries.

Tax compliance, advisory and governance for UK and Ireland
- Ensure timely and accurate filings for direct tax (such as CIT, WHT) returns in UK and Ireland region, along with timely direct tax payments
- Preparation of local Transfer pricing files aligned with local tax return / TP filings including calculation of development fee for relevant projects based on Transfer Pricing compliant methodology
- Responsible for tax technical analysis for UK group wide issues such as CFC analyses, Corporate Interest Restrictions, Group relief, Group deductions allowances
- Consideration and implementation of tax incentives and planning opportunities (R&D tax credits, groupings, loss utilization etc.)
- Control owner for all controls related to tax compliance and governance (support in areas such as Senior Accounting Officer regime in UK)
- Oversee direct tax audit queries raised by local authorities and any tax controversy activities where needed
- Monitoring local tax legislation changes in relevant jurisdictions and ensure changes are reported in all tax compliance returns and financial models
- Advising internal teams like Business development, Structured Finance, Legal, Finance on country specific direct tax issues, including on the tax structuring and implementation of domestic and cross border project and financing transactions, M&A and related tax due diligence
- Advise on tax implications of flow of funds for project financing including cash repatriation throughout the Group; tax review and approval of intercompany loans requests
- Prepare contemporaneous documentation of tax implications of key transactions for the purposes of internal project approvals and tax compliance / audit support; ensure all tax structuring and advisory matters are correctly reported in all tax compliance returns
- Assess and ensure ongoing compliance with reporting requirements for the Group under anti avoidance rules e.g., DAC 6, MDR
- Maintain good relationships with external advisors and coordinate the provision of external advice when required
- Participate in cross functional projects across the broader Finance team such as corporate simplification projects

Who We’re Looking For
Knowledge & Experience
- Qualified tax professional with minimum 5-8 years’ experience
- Preferably in-house MNC experience of consolidated tax reporting work
- Strong UK GAAP and IFRS tax accounting knowledge
- Corporate international tax experience and knowledge of issues such as corporate interest restriction, transfer pricing and DAC 6
- International experience / exposure essential
- Experience of transfer pricing within a tax planning and advisory capacity is beneficial
- Technically up to date with a good understanding of international taxation legislation and standards
