An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Manager to join a successful international retail and consumer-focused business on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave
This is a broad and commercially focused role offering responsibility for both direct and indirect tax matters across multiple international jurisdictions. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will oversee tax compliance, manage external advisors, and provide tax support across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage global tax compliance across multiple territories and tax regimes.
- Oversee UK, EU and international VAT/GST compliance and reporting obligations.
- Manage corporation tax compliance, reporting, forecasting and payments with support from external advisors.
- Review and maintain transfer pricing arrangements across the group.
- Maintain tax governance processes and tax risk management activities.
- Act as a key contact for tax authorities and external advisors.
- Manage and develop two Tax Assistants:
- One focused on US Sales Tax.
- One focused on Customs Duties and Refunds.
- Partner with stakeholders across finance and the wider business to provide tax guidance on commercial decisions and new initiatives.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the business.

Candidate Profile
The business is open to a variety of tax backgrounds and is keen to consider individuals from:
- Indirect Tax / VAT backgrounds with some Corporate Tax exposure.
- UK and International VAT, GST or Sales Tax specialists looking to broaden their remit.
- Corporate Tax professionals with experience overseeing indirect tax obligations.
The ideal candidate is likely to have:
- A recognised accounting or tax qualification.
- Strong technical tax knowledge.
- Experience managing external advisors and multiple compliance processes.
- Previous people management or supervisory experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Whilst the hiring manager is open-minded on background, the preference would be for someone with strong VAT experience alongside a good grounding in Corporate Tax, allowing them to integrate seamlessly into the existing team structure.
