The Role

A 3 days per week 12-month fixed term opportunity for a qualified tax professional to take ownership of a broad tax remit and lead a structured review and enhancement of tax processes and controls within a well-established organisation.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys bringing order, clarity and rigour to tax environments and delivering a framework that will have a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and Improve Existing Tax Processes: This is a hands-on, end-to-end tax position with a clear mandate to assess and improve existing tax processes, controls and governance.
  • Compliance Cycle Review: Reviewing the full compliance cycle across corporate tax, indirect taxes and employment taxes, including PSA and IR35.
  • Strengthening SAO Readiness: Strengthening SAO readiness, documentation and audit trail, identifying areas of tax risk and implementing practical improvements.
  • Establish Ownership: Responsible for establishing clear ownership, working papers and control frameworks, while ensuring ongoing compliance and reporting obligations are maintained throughout the review period.
  • Collaboration: Requires close collaboration with finance, the wider business and external advisers to ensure improvements are technically sound and operationally sustainable.

What They Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: Candidates are expected to be ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Strong experience in UK tax compliance and reporting.
  • Understanding: A good understanding of tax risk, controls and governance is required, including familiarity with SAO requirements and end-to-end tax processes.
  • Skills: The successful candidate will be able to translate technical tax matters into clear processes and documentation and will be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders while driving delivery.
  • Experience: Experience may have been gained in industry or practice, but candidates should be confident operating with autonomy in a broad in-house environment.
