We’re looking for a Tax Manager
We’re looking for a Tax Manager to join our Co-op Legal Services Finance team. If you have an accountancy or tax background, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and build a rewarding career within our growing legal business.
Why this job matters
In this role, you’ll support our probate Case Managers in dealing with all the self-assessment tax returns on probate and estate administration cases varying in complexity. You’ll also make sure that returns (formal and informal) are filed with HMRC ahead of deadlines and that liabilities are settled or cleared as appropriate.
What you’ll do
- Prepare, reconcile, and file the lifetime tax position of a deceased, up to date of death, including any accounting and corporate compliance requirements
- Prepare the interim and final accounts for the period of administration, including any tax compliance requirements
- Provide case managers with tax support, so they can provide the best advice to our clients
- Help develop tax modules to aid business development
- Engage with HMRC where required

What you’ll bring
We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:
- A TEP, AAT, ACCA, ACA qualifications, or similar qualifications – or you’re working towards this
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and and/or personal tax accounts
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build relationships with partners across the business
- Great organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
