Finning is the world's largest Caterpillar dealer. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer experiences and innovative solutions. We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Tax Manager to lead all taxation activities across our UK and Ireland operations.
Job Description:
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a qualified tax professional who thrives on providing strategic guidance while ensuring robust compliance, governance, and reporting. As a key member of both the UK&I Finance Leadership Team and Finning International's Global Tax Group, you will influence business decisions, manage risk, and help shape the future tax strategy of a complex multinational organisation.
Working closely with executive leaders, finance teams, government authorities, and external advisors, you will be a trusted business partner who can translate complex tax matters into practical commercial solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee all corporate tax compliance and VAT activities across the UK, Ireland, and European branches.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax returns, statutory filings, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage quarterly and annual tax provisioning and reporting in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Maintain a strong tax control environment and ensure compliance with governance requirements.
- Drive Strategic Tax Advisory
- Partner with business leaders on key projects, including acquisitions, restructures, expansions, and commercial initiatives.
- Provide practical tax advice that supports business growth while managing risk.
- Collaborate with Finning International's Global Tax team on strategic tax projects and initiatives.
- Manage Tax Risk & Governance
- Lead relationships with HMRC, Irish Revenue, and other tax authorities.
- Manage tax audits, enquiries, investigations, and dispute resolution activities.
- Identify emerging tax risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with SAO requirements and broader tax governance frameworks.
- Oversee Transfer Pricing
- Manage transfer pricing policies and documentation across the UK&I business.
- Ensure compliance with OECD guidelines and international tax regulations.
- Support Country-by-Country Reporting and other global tax reporting requirements.
- Lead & Develop the Team
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement in the tax team’s processes, to streamline tax processes and take advantage of automation opportunities.

Skills and Experience:
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- CTA qualified.
- Minimum 10 years' post-qualified experience.
- Significant experience in a senior corporate tax leadership role.
- Strong expertise in UK corporate tax legislation and SAO requirements.
- Good understanding of Irish and European tax regulations and VAT compliance.
- Experience of tax accounting under IFRS and strong knowledge of transfer pricing and OECD guidelines.
- SAP experience would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to simplify complex tax issues for non-tax audiences.
- Strong leadership skills with experience developing high-performing teams.
