Description

We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our finance team in York. If you have a genuine interest in tax and are looking to build your career in this area, this is an excellent opportunity to join the tax team, gain hands-on experience, and develop into the role.
Reporting to the Head of Tax, this is a broad and varied role offering excellent exposure across tax compliance, advisory, risk management and process improvement within a growing international group.
Role Details:
- Annual salary up to £50,000 dependent on skills and experience. Potential annual-on-target bonus of up to 10% subject to business performance
- Role based: York, YO32 9PT
- Eligible to join private medical
- Contract type: Permanent
- Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.

In this role as Tax Manager, you will be required to:
- Work closely with the Head of Tax to manage the Group’s tax affairs across multiple jurisdictions.
- Take responsibility for a broad range of taxes, including corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes, ensuring deadlines and obligations are met accurately and on time.
- Work with the wider finance team and key stakeholders across the business to provide practical and responsive tax support.
- Provide tax input and advice on business activities and projects, developing your commercial understanding of the Group.
- Manage relationships with external advisors and coordinate delivery of tax-related projects.
- Identify and support improvements to tax processes, controls and efficiencies, including opportunities to streamline and automate processes.

Our Ideal Candidate as Tax Manager
- A relevant tax qualification (e.g. CTA/ATT).
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent combined education and work experience.
- Experience across one or more areas of corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes.
- Experience of working in practice, industry or a combination of both.
- Good technical tax knowledge with a willingness to broaden your expertise across a range of taxes.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with good attention to detail.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and ability to build good working relationships with finance and business colleagues.
