About The Tax Manager Role
We are TC Group, the fastest-growing Top 20 accountancy firm in the UK. We’re business advisers and accountants, and with over 30 years of experience we’ve honed our skills and developed our service offering to deliver a much wider range of bespoke support and advice to ambitious business owners and their businesses.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager to join our central tax team, based in our Whiteley office. This is a varied general practitioner role covering internal technical support, tax advisory projects, tax compliance, quality control and acquisition due diligence.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring the Group’s tax helpdesks and assisting with technical tax queries raised by partner firms
- Supporting partner firms with the completion of tax advisory projects
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns for partner firms and TC Group companies
- Assisting with the Group’s internal tax reporting and compliance requirements
- Supporting internal tax matters, including the preparation of P11Ds
- Assisting with corporation tax reviews for more complex clients of partner firms
- Undertaking internal cold and hot file reviews across corporate and personal tax
- Completing quality control procedures for partner firms across the Group
- Assisting with acquisition due diligence, including red-flag reviews of client tax work and a target firm’s own tax affairs
- Undertaking technical research across a range of UK taxes
- Assisting with the preparation of technical briefings and internal guidance
- Supporting the delivery of tax training to partner firms where areas for development are identified
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across accounts, audit, VAT and other specialist teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
