A leading organisation is seeking an experienced tax professional to join its established in-house tax function. This is a broad and commercially focused role offering exposure across UK and European tax compliance, VAT, tax governance, risk management, and business partnering activities.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will provide practical tax advice, support strategic initiatives, and help ensure the organisation maintains a robust and effective tax framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage UK and EU tax compliance obligations.
  • Oversee VAT compliance and indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the organisation's tax governance framework.
  • Identify, assess, and manage tax risks, ensuring appropriate controls and processes are in place.
  • Provide day-to-day tax advice and support to stakeholders across the business.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to finance, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Liaise directly with HMRC and other relevant tax authorities on compliance and technical matters.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisers, coordinating specialist advice and support where required.
  • Lead and contribute to a range of tax projects, including process improvements, legislative change implementation, and wider business initiatives.
  • Support tax planning activities by assessing the tax implications of commercial decisions and business developments.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure the business remains compliant with evolving requirements.
  • Assist with tax audits, reviews, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and governance procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
