Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Manager to work within our Tax Advisory Group. The position would suit a motivated, dynamic individual who would already specialise in tax or who has significant tax experience working in an accounts/audit team. Our Tax Advisory Group provides tax advice across a wide variety of sectors and taxes with an increasing amount of international tax projects. Training and support will be provided to the right individual to further develop existing tax knowledge.

The CTA qualification is preferred however the right person who is either ACA or ACCA qualified will also be considered. Experience with corporate taxes is essential and experience in other areas of tax will also be beneficial, in particular international tax aspects.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities would include:

  • Liaising and corresponding with HMRC in respect of clearance applications, enquiries etc
  • Drafting reports and letters of advice for a number of tax advisory issues
  • Preparing calculations to support advice
  • Liaising with clients and attending meetings with other team members
  • Training and reviewing the work of more junior members of staff
  • Providing support to Directors and Partners in the Tax Advisory Group

Examples of work you would assist the team with include:

  • Advice and implementation of corporate reconstructions, investor reliefs such as EIS/SEIS, staff incentive schemes
  • Advising owner-managed businesses regarding remuneration planning, succession planning
  • Preparation of research & development claims, VAT returns, SDLT returns
  • Advising individuals regarding IHT planning and CGT mitigations
  • Reviewing corporate tax computations and returns

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Proven experience advising SMEs and owner-managed businesses on a broad range of corporate tax matters.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporation tax, corporate reorganisations, shareholder planning, and business tax advisory.
  • Experience reviewing complex corporation tax computations and returns, with the ability to identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and practical advice.
  • CTA qualified is advantageous; however, ATT, ACA, or ACCA qualified candidates with relevant corporate tax experience will also be considered.
