Tax Manager

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of taxation within the business – Corporation tax, VAT, transfer pricing, customs & duties, PSA.

You will be pivotal in contributing to our Company Values – One Team, Test & Learn, Choose to Care and Customer First.

What you'll be doing...

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Financial Controller, working closely with financial reporting, Corporate tax and external tax consultants to deliver all aspect of tax reporting and submissions.

  • Keep abreast with the latest tax legislations ensuring the business is kept up to date and well prepared for any tax changes.
  • Review and mitigate any tax risks; ensuring our internal controls and policies meet the evolving landscape of tax legislation.
  • With the support of Financial Controller, be responsible for any HMRC queries; maintain an open and transparent relationship with the tax authority.

VAT

  • With the support of financial reporting team prepare and review quarterly UK Group VAT submission, ensuring the return is accurate and complete.
  • Periodic review of VAT accounts to ensure day-to-day transaction postings are accurate, where required provide coaching to AP and AR staff.
  • Explore AI opportunity to devise automatic checks, flagging transactions that require further review and reduce the need of manual intervention.
  • Review and reconcile VAT accounts; ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for audit trail.
  • Provide expert guidance on VAT matters; ensuring any tax implications on our commercial contracts are considered and correctly accounted for.

Corporation Tax

  • Working closely with our external consultants to deliver corporation tax computation and submission; ensuring all tax analyses are provided on a timely manner.
  • Update and review tax provisions for inclusion in statutory accounts, including tax reconciliation and deferred tax substantiation.
  • Manage all internal tax reporting; collaborate with Corporate tax team to ensure group tax requirements are met, such as Pillar 2 and country-by-country reporting.
  • Manage annual cycle, seek opportunities to drive an efficient and effective process.

Other Taxes and responsibilities

  • Customs and Duties – periodic review of duty payment prepared by Logistics team and shipping agent.
  • PAYE settlement agreement – prepare and review employee expenses ensuring all applicable expenses are correctly accounted for under our agreement with HMRC.
  • Transfer Pricing – prepare and review local transfer pricing documentation, ensuring all applicable transactions are accurately documented. Work closely with Corporate Tax to ensure consistency between local and group documentation.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Financial Controller, while continuing to develop your skills to support evolving business needs.

A little bit about you...

  • Professionally qualified (CTA, ATT)
  • Strong experience in tax compliance and tax reporting ideally in the UK or similarly complex market.
  • Knowledge on acquisition and liquidation is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communicator, highly organised.
  • Advanced excel skills; knowledge on use of AI is desired.
