Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established and respected accountancy practice in Central London, which is looking to appoint a Tax Manager or Assistant Tax Manager to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to take the next step in their career within a successful practice. You will work with a varied portfolio of clients, providing a mixture of compliance and advisory services while developing strong client relationships.

The Role

Working closely with Partners and senior members of the team, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients and delivering a high-quality tax service.

Your responsibilities as the Tax Manager / Assistant Manager will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients
  • Preparing and reviewing personal and corporate tax computations and returns
  • Providing tax planning and advisory support to clients
  • Reviewing work prepared by more junior members of the team
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and communicating these to clients
  • Advising clients on a range of tax matters and responding to technical queries
  • Liaising with HMRC and other relevant authorities where required
  • Managing deadlines across a varied portfolio of clients
  • Supporting Partners and Directors with more complex tax assignments
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
  • Contributing to the development and mentoring of junior members of the team

About You

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager or Assistant Tax Manager with previous experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.

You Will Ideally Have

  • Strong experience in a practice-based tax role
  • Experience across personal and/or corporate tax
  • A strong technical understanding of UK taxation
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • A commercially astute approach, with the ability to understand clients' businesses and identify opportunities to add value
  • The confidence to deal directly with clients and HMRC
  • A proactive approach and a genuine interest in developing your career within practice

You will ideally be CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience. Candidates currently studying towards a relevant qualification will also be considered for the Assistant Manager level.
