You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

The key purpose of this role is to deal with the personal and partnership tax matters for the various entities making up the firm.

In this role you’ll:

  • Review and approve computations of tax adjusted profits for submission to HMRC in partnership tax returns, including allocation of taxable profits and other investment income & CGT of the LLP in line with partnership sharing agreements.
  • Review & update reports from the firms accounting systems monthly to identify disallowable expenses.
  • Review fixed asset records to prepare capital allowance calculations.
  • Review and approve partnership tax returns for the LLP.
  • Prepare and update models to calculate tax and deferred tax provision movements for partners.
  • Assist and advise partners with personal tax compliance matters.
  • Prepare and update models to advise partners of tax payments to be made to their personal SA accounts by the firm and provide information to enable them to complete their personal tax returns in advance of the filing deadline. Providing updated tax return information where initial details were given on a provisional basis.
  • Reviewing payments on account potential for claims to reduce and liaising with partners and HMRC on claims.
  • Liaise with HMRC in relation to partnership tax matters.
  • Assisting client project managers, credit control and Accounts Receivable with queries arising on foreign tax matters and to prevent or mitigate deductions of withholding tax by clients. Review of Double Tax Treaties, liaising with HMRC to obtain Certificates of Residence, and with international member firms to obtain repayments from their jurisdiction where relevant & cost effective.
  • Involvement with various aspects of the organisation’s Tax Governance as relates to partnership tax matters, including BRR readiness and response, SAO reviews as impact partnership tax obligations and maintain appropriate tax compliance controls.
  • Support the organisation’s Tax Strategy through implementing responsible tax behaviours and adding to the value that tax operations provides our business.

You’ll be someone with:

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Good planning and time management.
  • Experience with either Alphatax or CCH Personal Tax software would be of assistance.
  • A good knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with macros/VBA would be helpful, but not essential.
  • Professional tax qualification.
