Department: Private Client Tax
Location: City, London
Compensation: £67,000 - £72,000 / year
Description
Our Private Client Tax team are looking for a Tax Manager to join their growing department. You will be required to drive the delivery of personal tax advisory work, including writing reports and leading discussions with prospective and existing clients - predominantly across our City and Romford office client base. As such, we are happy for the successful candidate to be based in either office.
You will also be required to oversee the work of more junior staff who are responsible for day-to-day delivery of private client services across a portfolio of around 200 clients.
Central to the team, this position involves direct contact with high net-worth clients and fellow professional advisors, all handled with credibility and professionalism. Strong technical expertise is therefore essential, and just as important is the capacity to explain intricate tax matters clearly to those without a specialist background.
The successful candidate will take ownership of how the team delivers its private client offering, while being proactive in putting forward ideas to improve internal processes and efficiency. Alongside this, there will be responsibility for mentoring colleagues and running technical training sessions from time to time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
