Tax Manager - Private Client

Department: Personal Tax

Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Manager to work within our Tax Private Client Tax Team based in our Crawley, Brighton or Chichester offices. The position would suit a motivated, dynamic individual with experience of private client taxation matters. Training and support will be provided to the right individual to further develop existing tax knowledge.

The CTA qualification is preferred however ACA or ACCA qualifications are acceptable where you have the right private client tax experience. You will already be working within a dedicated private client tax team. The role will involve tax compliance and advisory work with the support of tax partners and directors. We will consider someone whose previous experience had a substantial compliance focus but who is now keen to focus on private client advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

The role would include:

  • Working on private client tax advisory projects for our best clients
  • Attending client meetings
  • Writing reports, preparing technical analysis and involving specialists within the team, where appropriate, to prepare or review tax advice.
  • Managing your own portfolio of clients
  • Working on tax compliance relating to the client portfolio, including work on annual tax returns and associated tax advice to clients
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, or escalate as appropriate

Examples of work you would assist the team with include:

  • Capital gains tax advice and planning in relation to the sale of a business
  • Advice on the latest IHT rules affecting pensions or business and agricultural assets
  • Implementing new company structures for investment companies or family businesses
  • Assisting in the preparation in the of complex tax calculations and returns
  • Dealing with the advice in relation to trust and 10-year charges

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Proven experience working within Private Client Tax.
  • Strong knowledge of inheritance tax, capital gains tax, trusts, and estate planning.
  • Experience managing both advisory and compliance work for high-net-worth individuals, families, and trusts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • CTA qualified is advantageous; however, ATT, ACA, or ACCA qualified candidates with relevant private client tax experience will also be considered.
  • Candidates with a strong compliance background who are looking to develop their advisory experience are encouraged to apply.
