Thomas & Co International
Thomas & Co International is a growing, multi-award-winning tax and strategic advisory firm supporting entrepreneurs, privately owned businesses, and internationally mobile clients across the UK and overseas.
Following sustained, profitable growth, we are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing team of high performers.
Our Founder & CEO Josh Thomas has the largest personal brand in the tax advisory space, yielding millions of views each month and landing him in entrepreneurial circles out of reach to most. This has built our company's pipeline to be consistently oversubscribed. You can explore his thought leadership and insights via his Instagram.
This role is designed for experienced tax professionals who want to step beyond delivery and into senior advisory, client leadership, and internal influence.
You will work with some of the most complex and interesting clients in the market, supporting founder-led businesses as they scale, restructure, and protect wealth. Our corporate clients typically range from £1m–£30m turnover, and our private clients typically have £3m–£100m net worth.
Role Overview
As a Tax Manager, you will take full ownership of complex tax advisory engagements from initial scoping through to technical analysis, client delivery, implementation and close-out.
You will act as a trusted adviser to entrepreneurs, business owners and high-net-worth clients, taking responsibility for the client relationship, technical direction, commercial delivery and overall outcome of each engagement.
This is a role for an experienced tax professional who is comfortable exercising judgement, leading client conversations and operating with genuine authority. The Head of Tax will provide the final technical and compliance review before material advice is issued, but day-to-day ownership of the engagement will sit with the Tax Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex corporate and private client tax advisory engagements end to end.
- Act as the principal adviser for a portfolio of entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and high-profile private clients.
- Establish the client’s objectives, relevant facts, technical issues and required workstreams.
- Lead client meetings, present recommendations and manage discussions with solicitors, valuers, banks and other professional advisers.
- Provide technical leadership on structuring, reorganisations, succession, remuneration, extraction, transactions and international tax matters.
- Develop and compare credible options, considering tax, commercial practicality, risk, cost and implementation.
- Take responsibility for project scope, fees, deadlines, client communication and delivery quality.
- Ensure recommendations are properly evidenced, technically defensible and capable of implementation.
- Review and challenge work prepared by Senior Associates and Assistant Managers.
- Mentor junior team members and provide clear technical and performance feedback.
- Identify wider risks, planning opportunities and additional advisory needs across the client relationship.
- Work closely with the Head of Tax and senior leadership on complex cases, new service offerings and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the firm’s advisory methodologies, templates, systems and internal processes.
- Represent the firm at relevant events and help build professional and referral networks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
