Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The trusts and estates offering is benefiting from increasing demand and referrals from across the wider business, creating a strong pipeline of specialist work. The breadth of the firm also gives the team access to expertise across complementary areas when supporting more complex client matters.

This isn’t simply an opportunity to service an existing portfolio. You’ll become an important part of the next stage of the practice’s development, working closely with senior leadership on existing clients, new opportunities and relationships across the wider firm while continuing to deepen your own technical expertise.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage a portfolio focused predominantly on complex UK trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals
  • Deliver both compliance and specialist advisory work across trusts and estates, including trust accounts, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and wider private client matters
  • Act as a key technical contact for trustees, executors, beneficiaries and professional advisers
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex advisory matters and new client opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and introduce relevant expertise from across the wider business
  • Review work and mentor junior colleagues, supporting their technical and professional development
  • Contribute ideas to improve the efficiency and continued development of the trusts and estates offering

What you’ll bring

  • CTA, STEP or another relevant professional qualification
  • Strong experience advising on UK trusts and estates, including trust accounts preparation
  • Good technical private client tax knowledge, including inheritance tax and capital gains tax
  • Experience delivering advisory work alongside trusts and estates compliance
  • Ideally, exposure to non-UK resident trusts or internationally based high-net-worth individuals, although particularly deep technical trusts experience will also be considered
  • Proven experience managing client portfolios, reviewing work and developing junior team members
  • Confidence building relationships with clients and professional advisers

These requirements retain the technical bar in the client's specification while reflecting that MKS accepts CTA, STEP or another professional qualification, and treats non-UK resident trust experience as desirable.

Who this suits

You’re an experienced trusts and estates professional who enjoys technically challenging work and wants to remain close to specialist advisory matters rather than moving into a broad generalist role.

You may already be operating at Manager level, or be ready to take on greater ownership of client relationships and junior colleagues. What matters is that you have strong trusts and estates expertise and want an environment where you can deepen that specialism while gaining greater influence over how the practice develops.
