US/UK Tax Manager
London | £70,000 - £85,000 | Hybrid
Why Apply for This Job?
- Join a highly regarded specialist US/UK tax firm advising American expatriates living in the UK.
- Work exclusively across both US and UK personal tax, developing genuine dual-handler expertise rather than specialising in one jurisdiction.
- Manage complex international clients covering cross-border compliance, planning, residency, expatriation and offshore matters.
- Take ownership of your own client portfolio while working closely with experienced senior tax professionals.
- Develop your leadership experience through mentoring, reviewing work and taking responsibility for junior team members.
- Play an active role in the future growth of the firm through strategic projects, automation, client education and business improvements.
The Role
- Manage the preparation and review of US and UK individual tax returns, including Forms 1040 and 8938, FBARs and UK Self Assessments.
- Manage filing deadlines, estimates and extensions for clients with complex multi-jurisdictional tax affairs.
- Handle delinquent filing procedures including SFOP, SDOP, Delinquent FBAR procedures and WDFs.
- Prepare responses to enquiries from the IRS and HMRC.
- Advise internationally mobile individuals on complex US/UK tax matters.
- Support planning around investments, cross-border structures and potentially punitive US and UK tax regimes.
- Research technical matters and draft advisory memoranda, including work relating to UK residence and the Statutory Residence Test.
- Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building strong long-term relationships.
- Review work completed by junior team members and support their technical development.
- Take leadership responsibility across tax teams and contribute to wider strategic projects within the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
